ABOUT
Rainy Stokley-Graves (they/them) is a queer vocalist, voice teacher, and student based in western Colorado, where they’re building a reputation as a heartfelt and expressive performer. Rainy studies vocal performance at Colorado Mesa University under the tutelage of Dr. Caitlin Moore.
At CMU, Rainy has served as section leader for both Vocal Arts Ensemble and Soprano/Alto Choir. Rainy is the founder and former president of the university’s Student NATS Chapter and has collaborated with the Genders and Sexualities Alliance to create workshops on training trans voices—advocating for more inclusive voice pedagogy in academic and private studio spaces.
During their time as a student, Rainy has had the privilege of participating in masterclasses with Dr. Ashraf Sewailam, Dr. Mary Kathryn Brewer, Jeremy Franklin, and Dr. Katherine Kasch. Additionally, Rainy is a two-time first-place winner in the Classical Avocational Adult Category at the CO/WY NATS Student Auditions and winner of the 2025 Sampson Competition.
In their free time, Rainy volunteers with the Grand Valley Threshold Singers. The Threshold Singers are a group of volunteers who bring gentle songs to the bedside of people who are at the end of their life. The group frequently works with patients at the Ferris Hospice Care Center, and occasionally bring music to individuals dying in their own homes.
Known for their kindness, curiosity, and dedication, Rainy is a passionate musician and an enthusiastic collaborator working at the intersection of artistry and community care.
